Are Botox Injections Painful?

Botox is injected in minute quantities using a fine needle. The procedure is quick and does not need any anesthesia. It does not really cause so much pain. It is just a small prick. Patients have likened it to a wasp bite or an insect bite. Patients need not worry about the pain, before, during or after the procedure. If they have any doubts the doctor can clear them before the treatment. If a little insect bite can improve the person by taking ages off their appearance, then the insect bite is worth the trouble.

The patient should have faith in the doctor. That is where half the battle is won. If the patient is worried about the pain factor then he will be tense and worried. If the doctor can convince him that the pain is momentary but the results are good, then there is no problem. Sometimes the patient may feel scratchy or itchy after the injection but the doctor can suggest a remedy in the form of medicines or some gel or lotions. That will cure whatever problem there is. Some may feel a bit of nausea. This too will soon pass. There is nothing to fear from a botox injection.

Thousands of people are using it round the world and thousands of doctors are performing it. A little talk with another patient who is a friend or an acquaintance or even a family member will set the patient’s mind at ease about the pain inflicted by a botox injection.

There has not been a single case where a patient has complained of pain during or after a botox injection. Maybe there will be a little soreness or a little pinch like feeling. That is all. There are many people who have a morbid fear of injections. The very sight of a syringe coming near them makes them feel like running away or screaming. It is natural if one is taking an injection for the first time. Such patients should watch others getting an injection or watch a video where a doctor is injecting a patient. This will hopefully overcome the patient’s fear. Talking with peers and doctors will certainly help. There is no need to be tensed over such a small matter, which the majority of people take in their strides.

They even have injections when they are at a party. Botox parties have become quite common where the patients and the doctors enjoy while going ahead with the treatment. Hence there is nothing to fear as there is no pain during a injection.

Why, Oh Why Is My Hair So Dry?

Suddenly you have realized your hair has lost its natural shine, it is brittle, and breaking easily. Normal hair is shiny, elastic, and easily managed. It looks good and makes you feel good. But not anymore. So how has this come about?

There is a good chance you may have done this to yourself. Now, now, there is no need to worry or feel guilty, because it is just as likely you had no idea that some of the things you do every day were making your usual hair into dry hair. Other factors that may have attributed to your dry hair were events you may have had absolutely no control over.

Mechanical Damage Dealing with your hair by the use of various brushes, combs, clips, and ties can lead to dry hair. You hair is especially vulnerable after you have showered or otherwise gotten it wet and begin brushing it. Wet hair has more elasticity than when it is dry, so constant tugging and jerking through it with a comb or brush will stretch it out more than it should be and leave it limp and more exposed to drying out.

Chemical Damage Doing numerous things to your hair, such as bleaching, permanent waving, and dyeing, can induce dryness. The chemicals put into hair soak into the strands and affect their natural properties, switching them around or breaking them down in order for the desired effect to take place. Permanent waving is a good example of this, as the hair must be forced into assuming a shape different than its natural form; straight to wavy or curly. Lost natural properties cannot be gained back except by natural means.

Thermal Damage Obviously, heat can dry hair out. Too much heat can remove the water that normally exists within hair and leave strands brittle and prone to breakage. People that often use straightening irons on their hair may notice a change in their hair properties. The same goes for anyone using curling irons too often or too long. When blow drying your hair, always be sure to continuously move the airflow around; staying in one spot for too long can damage hair. Also, keep the blow drier at a respectable distance from your hair (around 6 inches) so your hair is dried by an even amount of warm air instead of a constant blast of hot air.

Photochemical Damage This damage is one type that you cannot always control. Too much direct sunlight can act like a bleaching agent, slowly breaking down certain hair properties and giving you dry hair. The cause behind this is the ultraviolet light in sunlight. If no other reasons can explain your dry hair, an abundance of sunlight may be the culprit.

Systemic Damage A two-way street, systemic damage can either be beyond your control or completely under your control, depending upon your situation. Some dry hair occurrences may be because of heredity or due to a medical condition. Others may be due to hormonal changes from pregnancy or simply from changes in your body as you age. However, other incidences of dry hair could be the result of poor dietary choices. Protein helps hair remain strong and shiny; a protein free diet can lead to dry hair.

Do not worry if you suddenly find you have dry hair, as you now know some of the reasons why this may have occurred. Knowing is half the battle, and now you can begin to fight back in order to gain your healthy hair once again. Even if it takes time, you can supplement your dry hair with various products to help give it a healthy look until it returns to being healthy on its own. Just be sure these products are meant for dry hair and will not dry your hair out further!

The Benefits Of A Tanning Salon Over Home Tanning

The winter chills seem to bring out a longing for the carefree days of summer. The ability to go out and play in the sun is something that many people desire as they start missing that golden tan from last summer. You know it is time to be prepared for the upcoming short sleeve and bathing suit season, so what are you going to do about your skin now? You need to try a tanning salon to get yourself ready for summer again.

A tanning salon in a metropolitan area is going to have advantages for you to check out, versus those tiny one or two bed shops found in some beauty parlors. These salons are focused on the business of golden skin and can offer you a wide variety of beds in which to tan. Different beds are rated at different levels according to how strong the tanning beds lamps are, as well as other specialties that the booths offer.

Tanning salons beat home tanning for a variety of reasons. The first is that there are usually plenty of options when it comes to choosing the right bed. The second is that you do not have to shoulder the huge electricity bill that comes as a result of running your own bed. The third are the supplies that you can buy.

Sure you can find some cheap lotions in discount stores, but you may not get the same results as the professional lines guarantee. The luxury of indoor tanning to get that beautiful tan in time for summer is worth the cost of a membership, if you weigh all the options.

Another great option with the salons is that many are now have tanning booths that spray you with a fake tan. Fake tans take the worry out of skin damage. As you probably already know, the sun can cause a host of problems, and tanning beds can be far worse because you are in there unprotected from the Ultra Violet (UV) rays.

The tanning salon should offer more than just the basic beds in your membership package, however many do not. They will only cover a set amount of minutes on the basic bed and you will have to pay more to be able to use the specialty beds and booths.

If you are not happy with your package, then you can always go to another salon and see what their membership packages have to offer. It is your money and body to use as you see fit.

This is a wonderful tool to use if you are thinking about a change of hair color or style, as you can see exactly how it will look on you before you go through with the change.

It’s ok to see a hairstyle or hair color on a model in a magazine and think “That’s lovely, I want to look like that!” Then you take the magazine to your hair stylist and they snip away (or color away) until you have the look you wanted. However, what looks good on a model in a magazine will look completely different on you, and you may find that the hairstyle or color you wanted does not look quite how you hoped it would on you.

White Spots From Tanning - What You Need To Know

There are many people who indulge in personal tanning for a number of reasons. This can range from helping Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), aiding in skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis, or even to prepare themselves for a pending holiday vacation on a sunny beach somewhere. No matter what reason a person may have for the purpose of tanning, precautions and preventative measures should be exercised to avoid any over-exposure or abuse of a tanning bed. White spots from tanning are just one of the many results that spark questions from those who utilize tanning beds.

Skin Pigment

In some people, white spots will appear after prolonged exposure to UV rays either from the sun or from tanning beds. There can be a genetic trait in the skin that causes these white spots from tanning since these cells do not produce melanin and therefore they are unaffected by the tanning process. This idiopathic guttate hypomelanosis is a genetic disorder that disables the skin from keeping pigment. White spots show up more when tanning makes the skin around them darker. There is no cure for this form of white spots.

Medication

Some medication will make a person’s skin extremely sensitive to UV light. Birth control pills are just one of these many medications. The skin can tan very unevenly, producing what looks like white spots from tanning due to a number of medications. Before you fill any prescription at a pharmacy be sure to talk to your doctor or pharmacist and let them know that you tan either occasionally or regularly so you are well aware of any side effects that you may experience.

Fungus

White spots could be the result of a skin fungus preventing the UV rays from entering into that patch of skin cells. This is a non-contagious form of fungus that is caused by the combination of sweating and heat directly on the skin. Prescription drugs, lotions or even using an anti-fungal shampoo on the skin can help eliminate the appearance of these white spots in order to try and get a more even tan.

Pressure Points

When lying down in a tanning bed there are a number of pressure points that will have a decrease in circulation due to the nature of the position of your body in the tanning bed. Locations such as the shoulder blades, hipbones, or elbows can produce white spots from tanning since they are most likely to have continuous contact with the tanning bed during your session. In order to try and eliminate the cause of these type of white spots, regular movement and switching positions in the tanning bed will help those pressure points from being focused on for the duration of your tanning session.

The most important thing to remember is that if you start to notice white spots from tanning or any other irregular skin conditions, contact your doctor immediately for examination. You do not want to self-diagnose yourself and end up deciding that your problem is not a big deal when it very well can be. Be sure to talk to a medical professional about any skin irritations or irregularities that you may have.

The Austin Electrolysis Treatment of the Wild West Territory

Austin electrolysis treatment options have followed trends and become the latest creation of the cosmetic surgery buzz. Most people gawk when hear the term and don’t quite know what to make of it. The best way to define Austin electrolysis treatment would be a hybrid between a traditional spa and a medical center. In addition to traditional treatments, Texas hair laser removal became a rising trend.

Traditional spas have long been trying to add medical procedures and cosmetic surgery and dermatology clinics want to cash in on the lucrative market by creating relaxing spa like ambiences. When the lines between a traditional spa and a beauty-enhancing clinic start to blur, the result becomes the now common Austin electrolysis treatment. You will be sure to find an excellent choice when you search for a medical spa in Austin, Texas.

So what could you typically expect to find when you decide to spend an afternoon getting an Austin electrolysis treatment? For starters, you would find yourself in a relaxing and soothing environment where the number one priority is to pamper you. There would be the usual assortment of facials, massages, body treatments, and aromatherapy sessions for you to choose from, in addition to your Austin electrolysis treatment.

Colourful rows of the latest editions in facial creams are neatly placed in glass displays near the entrance of your location hen you go to get an Austin electrolysis treatment, and the staff will gently try to persuade you to try out one of their skin-improvement treatments.

Up to now, it all sounds like pretty familiar territory to you. Try adding a, Botox treatments, and Restylane injections to the above and the picture starts to change. You may even be able to find many of these treatment options at a medical spa in Austin, Texas.

Think about getting your cellulite reduction therapy and microdermabrasion done while listening to the sounds of flowing water and smelling the Eucalyptus of the aromatherapy coming from the next room. All of this is available at most Austin medical spas.

Now the picture becomes complete and you can imagine what an Austin electrolysis treatment would be like. If you seek laser therapy or treatments, evaluate the Austin hair laser removal centers as well or ask your Austin medical spa if they provide it.

Austin electrolysis treatment options are performed a variety of locations ranging from corporate-chain beauty spas to privately owned physician clinics with surgical facilities. Because it’s so hard to put a finger on what the Austin medical spa really is, there are presently no strict regulations that govern the medical spa market or Austin hair laser removal centers.

They do have one thing in common, though. All Austin medical spa facilities have to be run under the supervision of a licensed physician. The doctor must be on the staff of the Austin medical spa and the people administering Botox injections and cellulite reduction therapy have to be trained and licensed to do their jobs. However, the physician himself is not required to be on the premises of the Austin medical spa all the time and must only be available if complications arise. Austin electrolysis treatment can also be found at medical spas.

The Austin medical spa provides exciting new opportunities for the beauty conscious buyer to combine medical cosmetic procedures with traditional spa services. Having said that, it is probably wise to take a precautionary approach to receiving medical cosmetic treatments in one center. You will also want to evaluate the education and skill level of practitioners in an Austin electrolysis treatment center prior to receiving any medical treatments.

Cosmetic surgeons and dermatologists have warned patients to do their research in finding out the credentials of the people running Austin medical spas before surrendering themselves to risky medical procedures.

Ideally, you should expect and be given an equal amount of medical attention that you would get in a dermatology or cosmetic surgery clinic when you visit a medical spa or an Austin electrolysis treatment center.

Develop a Healthy Skin Cleansing Routine

Your skin is the largest organ that your body possesses. It provides protection from the elements and foreign objects, has the ability to heal itself and keeps harmful bacteria from entering your body. It also provides an outlet for bodily waste, via sweat and cools the rest of the body. Your skin is very important to your well-being and it´s a good idea to take care of it so it will stay healthy and youthful.

The best way to maintain your skin in optimum condition is to wash it daily. However, a simple scrub with soap and water isn´t always the best way to do things. Anyone with sensitive skin knows that some cleansers can be quite harsh and damaging, but even if you have regular skin, you may notice some bumps and redness occuring when you use regular soap to wash with. It´s almost always best to use a specially formulated cleanser, particularly on the face.

Your skin has a fairly neutral pH, but most soaps are acidic. This might be fine for cleaning your hands, but in general, a more neutral soap is the best way to go when washing your body. The face requires special attention, because it is exposed to the elements and sun and tends to be thinner and more fragile than the skin on other parts of the body.

A good skin cleansing routine should be gentle. Despite popular opinion, it isn´t a good idea to scrub at your face or wash with soap several times a day. These practices can damage your face and dry out the skin. For those with oily skin, washing more often will only cause your body to produce more oil.

Begin your day with a gentle wash. A very basic, neutral pH facial cleanser is fine for this purpose. Rinse very well and pat your skin dry with a soft towel. A good moisturizer is recommended after washing, to rehydrate your skin and help protect it during the day.

In the evening, wash your face again. Really, this evening step can be just a rinse with warm water to remove the grime of the day, unless you use makeup. Makeup tends to clog the pores and leaving it on or not removing it completely can cause zits. So, use a gentle makeup remover or cold cream and then wash your face with a foaming cleanser and rinse well. Pat dry with a towel. For those with dry skin, another application of moisturizer can be useful at night.

A deep clean is a good idea once or twice a week, but shouldn´t be done every day. Your deep cleanse routine should include a more serious cleanser and possibly an astringent, which can help remove excess oil and get the dirt out of pores. For a truly deep pore cleansing, try running hot water into the sink and then lean over it, allowing the steam to gently open your pores. Then wash with a foaming cleanser and, if needed, use an astringent. Never use plain alcohol on your face as it is very damaging.

Once you have finished with your weekly deep cleansing, rinse your face well with warm water and dry by patting it with a towel. Apply a moisturizer to rehydrate the skin, especially if you used an astringent and then continue with your regular daily skin cleansing routine for another week.

Having a proper routine is a very good idea for your skin. It will maintain you skins healthy natural glow. This reduces zits and infections caused by dirt being trapped under the skin and causing infections. For anything that was missed, the weekly deep cleanse will help a lot.

Pure, organic beauty products are great for your skin and compliment your natural beauty. Finding true organic products is not always easy. Be assured that the natural beauty products you buy are of the highest quality by learning how to evaluate different products.

Protect Your Skin on Winter Vacation With Organic Sunscreen

Winter Vacations are a blast! Whether you are taking an active one, skiing or snowboarding on the slopes, or just hanging out in a cute little log cabin or chalet, there´s something about the winter and snow that just makes life seem simple again. But, winter vacations can cause a lot of skin problems, thanks to reflected sunlight, harsh winds and dry air, so make sure you look after your skin while relaxing. There´s no point in coming back from a ski trip with a sunburn!

One of the most important products for protecting your skin is sunscreen. Many people figure that winter sunlight isn’t a big deal, since it is far weaker than mid-summer. However, that doesn’t mean you can´t be burned. In fact, the sunlight reflects very well off the bright snow crystals and that glare that hurts your eyes is also damaging to your skin! Also, if you are heading for the mountains, keep in mind that UV rays penetrate the thinner atmosphere at higher altitudes very well. A good sunscreen is a must and if at all possible, you will want to go with organic sunscreen.

Why use organic sunscreen before hitting the slopes? Well, regular sunscreens tend to have a lot of things in them that you probably don´t want on your skin, particularly under harsh conditions where it is already difficult for your skin to stay healthy. Benzoylbenzene, a common ingredient used in sunscreens, has been linked to allergic reactions in many people and other ingredients and chemicals could actually be very harmful to everyone who uses them, even those who don´t suffer from allergies.

Everyone knows by now that skin cancer is most common in those who have sun-damaged skin, which is one of the main reasons that we use sunscreen. However, some sunscreens actually contain ingredients that may cause cancer! Some synthetic compounds used to create these creams are actually quite dangerous, something that has only recently come to light. Otylmethoxycinnamate, benzophenone 3, and octocrylene are three chemicals that are often used in sunscreens as UV filters. They slowly seep into the lower layers of the skin, leaving top layers exposed to the sunlight and even react with the UV rays to create reactive oxygen species, a compound that is very harmful to the skin and can promote skin cancers like melanoma. This is a particularly good reason to opt for organic sunscreen instead of regular ones.

Using an organic sunscreen, particularly during the winter, when sunlight can be especially damaging thanks to being reflected and intensified by snow, is a far better option. The natural ingredients contained in these sunscreens are far safer and because they are organic, don´t contain those nasty chemicals that could end up causing you to pay huge medical bills and deal with skin cancer.

Organic sunscreen is also formulated to be kind to sensitive skin, making it the ideal option for babies and children, as well as anyone who has sensitive skin that can´t handle the harsher ingredients in regular sunscreens. For your winter vacation, even if you don´t usually have sensitive skin, it´s a good idea to treat your face gently. The dryness and chapping caused by wind and snow combined with sunlight makes even the hardiest of skin more sensitive. Organic sunscreen will ensure that no extra damage is done and will do a better job of protecting you from harmful UV rays.

Pure, organic beauty products are great for your skin and compliment your natural beauty. Finding true organic products is not always easy. Be assured that the natural beauty products you buy are of the highest quality by learning how to evaluate different products.
