How Neurotic Are You?

The human conscience has a wild side and a human side. Absurd content exists in the wild part of the human conscience and the human side controls human behavior. But when the absurd content invades the human side, we call this neurosis.

What does it mean?

It means that content that is pure poison for your conscience starts destroying it progressively, without you realizing.

How does this destruction occur?

Through absurd thoughts, feelings, sensations and intuitions.

The absurd content starts provoking problems in your psychological functions. Your thoughts start being repetitive and empty, you start thinking silly things like a child or you cannot stop thinking about the same subject without ever coming to a conclusion, and you start thinking about things that never passed through your mind before.

You start feeling certain sympathy for people you don’t know, too much sympathy that is not interpreted as friendship by the other side, and several strange things start happening to you, because you are not working normally. You are somehow drunk with the invasion of this poison from the wild side of your conscience.

However, neither you nor the people that observe you from outside can notice the difference. You believe yourself to be the same. Others believe you are the same. But sooner or later the truth will appear. There will be a point, when you’ll start doing things that are absurd. When someone is a little bit absurd, others don’t necessarily think of him or her as crazy. A little absurdity can be justified. It can be explained or interpreted in many other ways.

However, when someone suddenly does something very absurd, it is noticed, and then we understand that the person is out of control.

Suddenly, the person does something terrible against someone else in a moment of anger. We believe that they experienced a bad moment in their lives. That they suddenly reacted; we are not able to understand why such a reasonable person did something so barbarous to an innocent victim because they were acting quite reasonably in other ways.

However, in reality, nothing happens suddenly. The process of destruction of the human side of our conscience happens gradually. It starts when we are depressed and we simply accept the absurd suggestions that come from the wild side of our conscience. These seem to be solutions to our problems, and so we accept them without critiquing them. We accept cruelty, immorality and treason without condemning them. We start accepting the excuses of the sneaky wild side, which try to hide what is bad, pretending that there is no danger anywhere.

We hear the thoughts of the wild side in our human side as if these thoughts belonged to the conscious content, but they are part of the absurd content that comes from the wild, animal side of our conscience; the part that didn’t evolve like our human side. This is the definition of the mental illness. Now, let’s examine its characteristics in practice, so that you may ascertain how neurotic you are, if you are one of the billions of neurotics of our planet.

The neurotic starts allowing the absurd thoughts of the wild conscience to invade the human side, and starts drawing neurotic conclusions. His feelings are influenced by his thoughts and they don’t have the meaning they should have in his life, while his sensations are dead. He cannot feel the present reality: his life continues to exist in a fantasy world, far from objective reality. His intuitions are strange and dominate him too much. He feels persecuted, he imagines conspiracies against him. He misinterprets other people’s behavior and everything that he judges.

So, he supposes several things about somebody else for example, and he assumes that his thoughts are correct, as if they were based on facts. He wants to possess a beautiful woman. However, he starts thinking that she is too beautiful and she has too many admirers, who are more handsome and smarter than him. So, he comes up with a plan to prevent this woman from having any contact with his rivals.

His actions create several problems in the woman’s life as well as problems in the lives of his rivals. Eventually he has to face an unexpected problem: a different rival appears and seems to be much stronger than the others. The neurotic wastes his psychical energy trying to eliminate his rivals, and forgets to conquer the woman he loves.

On the other hand, the woman he loves understands that he is causing problems for her because he is jealous, and this makes her feel disgusted. If he could only prevent himself from behaving in a neurotic fashion, but could examine reality as it really is, he would understand that this woman was never interested in his supposed rivals, because she has other interests in life. Then he would simply be normal, kind and friendly with her, and their romance would most likely flourish.

However, with all the poison that invaded his mind, he wasted all his energy trying to eliminate the rivals that in fact he never had, and so he ends up losing the woman that he loved.

The wild conscience wants to destroy the human being, because it is a wild and evil animal. The ideas and plans it suggests to the human conscience are always intent on destroying the person through craziness and despair.

Absurd content makes the person imagine things that are fantastic in an unreal sense, and so their objectives become distanced from reality, and in the end cause them to face failure and despair.

Now, think about your psychological functions.

How do they work for you? Which of them are working in your psyche?

Are you a person that understands things easily and makes decisions easily?

Or are you an eternal seeker of something else and that you and only you will know it when you see it?

Are you afraid of life and of other people?

In any case I advise you to start caring about the dreams you see when you sleep, because they can help you develop balance and wisdom, even if your neurosis is too advanced and already has the characteristics of a psychosis.

You don’t need to visit a psychotherapist and you don’t need to pay your doctor. The doctor is the wise unconscious mind that produces your dreams exactly in order to protect and save you from attacks of the wild conscience. Attacks which try to impose neurotic behavior in you.

Treating Bipolar Depression

Bipolar disorder affects the brain, and as such is classified as a psychiatric or mental illness. Its treatment involves combinations of pharmacological intervention in the form of special medications in addition to psychological therapy, although the latter may sometimes be unnecessary for milder cases. For more extreme cases, hospitalization at a psychiatric institution is sometimes necessary for the patient’s recovery. Other, less common treatments are also sometimes considered, but only in the most severe cases.

To date, the bipolar disorder has no known cure. But several treatments have been developed over the years since the mental illness’ discovery, and many have been found to be quite effective. Often, all it takes for a patient to recover and return to a normal, productive lifestyle is an accurate diagnosis of the disorder, after which a tailor-made treatment regimen may be prescribed.

Medication has been found to be very effective in treating the some of the known symptoms, and is frequently included in treatment plans. “Mood stabilizers” are medications that are often effective in directly treating the symptoms, as well as in the therapy’s maintenance phases. The following include some of the more common medications used to this end:

• Lithium
• Antiepileptic drugs
• Conventional antipsychotics
• Newer antipsychotics
• Antidepressants
• Anti-anxiety medications

In addition to medication, a measure of psychosocial therapy is also suggested, such as family therapy, interpersonal therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and psychoeducation. The characteristics of the mental illness is not very well known to the public, and these therapies help people understand it better and know precisely how to cope with the stresses that trigger its onset.

While medications and psychosocial therapy is almost always present in a Bipolar disorder treatment plan, dosages and schedules may change as the patient’s condition gets better. When the mental illness regresses to a more manageable level, some aspects of the treatment plan may not need to be followed anymore, or changed to something more suited to the illness’ level. It’s difficult to find two cases that are exactly the same, so treatment and management varies from patient to patient. Professional help is almost certainly needed for the individual to enjoy lasting freedom from the symptoms.

Today’s treatments for Bipolar disorder are very effective, and newer and better treatments are being developed all the time. No matter the type of treatment, the management of Bipolar disorder usually comes in three parts:

• Alleviating the current episode or attack
• Preventing any recurrence of the episode
• Helping the patient recover

Another aspect worth noting is the fact that it has two distinct, polar-opposite conditions to treat: mania and depression. Most treatment plans today involve more than one medication to treat both conditions. Bipolar disorder is also a biological occurrence caused by genetic elements, and as such all treatment is basically long-term. Any negligence on the part of the patient or the medical professional may result in a relapse.

No More Medication For Add-Adhd - An All Natural Alternative For Children With Add-Adhd

There are about 24 million children who are diagnosed with ADD/ADHD and now there are many adults being diagnosed also. Most of them if most all are on some form of medication like Ritalin. There are other ways to get relief other than medication. There are many cases where medication has even made things worse. That is what this is about an alternative for those parents who do not like the affect medication is having on their children.

There is a foundation to good health that most people have never heard of before, mainly because there is not a lot of money in the medical field for staying healthy. Basically there is a whole industry centered around ADD/ADHD and billions of dollars to be made with the medication. Do we want our children medicated or healthy?

With that being said the question arises what is the key foundation to good health? It is actually pretty simple it is “alkalizing the body.” When the body is at the proper ph level that is alkalized it is brought to a natural state of balance which leads to optimal healthful condition. The ph scale measures the acidity or alkalinity in the body. The scale goes form 1-14. The lower the number the more acidic the higher the number the more alkaline our bodies are. We need to be in between 7-9 to be at our healthiest. When the body is too acidic it leads to ill health like cancer, disease and other common illnesses. Natural unpolluted lake water is at about 7.5, which is where the body should be. By the way soda is at about 3 which is very acidic which is unfit for human consumption.

Another question is what leads to an acidic body? Life itself can lead to being acidic like, stress, metal attitudes, certain foods, exercise, environmental pollution and other sources. In the case of ADD/AADHD the child’s body is too acidic. Once the child’s body is alkalized he or she calms down and is able to function better mentally which leads to becoming a happier and healthier child or adult.

So the next question is how do you alkalize the body. Taking proper nutrition. Mainly taking minerals which do the alkalizing like calcium, magnesium and the other minerals we need in our bodies. Which most of us do not get through the foods we eat, especially processed foods.

How does all this tie into ADD/ADHD? What we are finding out is that with proper nutrition for alkalizing we are seeing parents decreasing medication and in many cases stopping medication all together. Which parents are thrilled about. We advise using the nutrition in conjunction with the medication. That is when parents are seeing the dramatic changes and decide to decrease or stop medication. Of course this is done with keeping the Physician informed.

If you are not satisfied with the medication your child is on this may be an alternative for you.

Irrational Fear Of Driving - How To Overcome It

In order to overcome irrational fear of driving, you have to take the first step of realizing that this fear is indeed irrational. Sure, traffic accidents happen, but they happen to a very small percent of the people, and even if you were involved in an accident before, there’s really little chance that it will ever happen.

Once you do come to the realization that your fear of driving is irrational, you can start to figure out how to overcome it. And you can do it with 2 parallel processes:

1. The first thing you need to do is to realize that your fear is divided in 2: Your fear of the actual driving, and your fear of what that fear of driving is likely to make you feel. You’re scared of the symptoms of the fear and not just the driving. This is a fear cycle in which your fear of another phobic attack is preventing you from taking steps to correct it. In order to begin overcoming your irrational fear of driving, you need to first be willing to face what driving may make you feel. In this way you will stop feeding your own fear and deal with the real issue of driving and your fear of it.

2. The second process you need to initiate is the baby-steps process by which you start taking small steps to face your fear. This is done by driving incrementally longer distances and facing the specific things about driving which terrify you. For instance, if you fear driving over a bridge, do it with someone else in the car with you, then do it alone over a short bridge, then a larger bridge, then a bridge spanning water. Slowly but surely, you will see that the demon isn’t so bad and that your fear of driving is, in fact, irrational.

Do that and you will likely see an improvement in your condition.

Eliminating Your Phobia, Fear or Panic Attacks

Most people have at least one event, environment or item that induces a mild degree of anxiety or fear. Our unconscious mind does this as a safety mechanism when, for whatever reason, it believes it is protecting us from harm. When that fear becomes so intense that it stops you doing something or living a full life it becomes known as a PHOBIA. Phobias are often given names by psychologists or psychotherapists to describe what the phobia does, thereby “pigeon-holing” the phobia and giving it a kind of reality. I suggest you do not do that.

Phobias, and their close cousins Panic Attacks, both occur when your unconscious mind recognizes a particular set of circumstances that it believes are placing you in danger. It immediately begins triggering a set of physical reactions, including emotional responses that it knows will make you move away from the perceived danger. At least, this is the strategy IT HAS BEEN TOLD will get the desired protective response.

However, the response is almost always too strong under the circumstances. Of course there is a valid reason to be cautious of spiders and other sometimes toxic or furry critters. But to create an irrational response of jumping on a chair, or running screaming from the room, or simply freezing up so you can’t move, combined with the debilitating physical effects of intense terror, is usually not a valid response.

The same applies to fear of being in a crowded space, or out in the open air, or panicking when your mind thinks something has germs on it. Whilst under some very RARE circumstances the response is appropriate, most of the time it is not.

So, how do you stop your mind from doing that?

The solution is slightly different for each of you, but the basic principle is the same. It applies to both phobias and panic attacks. Instead of concentrating on WHAT is happening, concentrate your conscious thoughts on HOW it is happening. In other words, instead of feeling the fear in your body and how that makes you feel, stop for a second and concentrate on how your mind is producing that feeling. Which part of your body feels different? Is it your stomach, your heart, your chest, your head? And how is it making that part different? Does it make it feel heavy, thicker, darker, colder or hotter? Does it appear to look different in your mind’s eye?

Once you know that, and knowing that this response is really not a valid response, what do have to consciously change to the way that feeling is created to make it feel better. Imagine what it would be like if that part of the body was lighter, cooler, warmer, less dense, a different color. And when you feel the difference, ask your unconscious mind to take note. All it needs is better response mechanisms to help protect you. By using the new feelings it actually protects you more because you can think clearly and respond appropriately instead of in panic. That would be OK would it not?

Done correctly, your mind will begin to disassociate your circumstance from the reaction it used to create. With a little practice you can turn off the irrational reaction in a few seconds and eventually dissolve the phobia or panic entirely. The same methodology applied to Post Traumatic Stress Disorders.

How do I know this? Because of a particular set of circumstances many years ago caused me to start having panic attacks. Once I recognized what was happening, I could stop them within seconds and eventually stopped them even starting. In my clinical practice, and even in sizable groups, I have shown my clients how to totally and permanently eliminate phobias in 5 minutes. The method works every time as long as any biochemical imbalance caused by long term high stress levels has been dealt with first.

In future articles I will cover more about the techniques of doing this, but for instant gratification go to http://www.gmfint.com for additional free resources to help deal with all stress and fear based problems.

Clinical Depression, Shakespeare’s Macbeth and Gratitude

Clinical depression is usually treated with drugs. But there is only one lasting antidote.

It may be great drama when Shakespeare’s Macbeth moans

…Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow
…creeps in this petty pace from day to day
…and all our yesterdays have lighted fools
…the way to dusty death

But it is really the most beautiful description ever written of clinical depression. If clinicians want a working understanding of depression they need not read the many books on the subject…they have only to feel the rhythm of Macbeth’s descriptive words.

The rhythm of the words…as well as the words themselves… captures that feeling many people have — mild to severe hopelessness.

People who experience life as Macbeth did spend their days flying just under the radar that searches the sky of their lives to locate happiness and joy…friendship and love… wealth and abundance. They miss it all…living as they do under a cloud cover…which is as good a metaphor as any for clinical depression.

But what if we ‘edited’ Shakespeare and wrote this…

Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow

  • …bursts upon me like rain in the desert
  • …to make my life bloom with
  • …abundant beauty to delight my eye
  • …abundant love to overflow my heart
  • …abundant joy to expand my soul
  • …with shouts of gratitude —
  • …Thank you! and Thank you! and Thank you! —
  • …exclaiming at the speed of sound
  • …through the universe past the stars and beyond
  • …to echo in the vaults of heaven itself

Now wouldn’t that be a life worth living?

And it is within everyone’s grasp…but it cannot be given to you by someone else. You…and only you…have the power to create such a life.

And when the time comes to leave this blessed place for destinations unknown…Instead of a dusty death…imagine yourself celebrating for your time here and looking forward with curiosity and excitement to whatever new life beckons you.

All manifestations of unhappiness…whether you call it depression or something else…have one noticeable thing in common. Gratitude is missing. It is missing in people’s lives and often in their prayer.

But one thing is certain…people who live in gratitude are not depressed…they are joyous.

Gratitude is a habit and so is depression.

One cancels the other so that gratitude and clinical depression cannot abide together in the same mind and heart.

Thomas Drummond, Ph.D. is trained in clinical, developmental and neuropsychology. He has worked with the problems of clergy and religious of the catholic church for more than 20 years. How To Recognize The ADHD Children

ADHD Children

It is very common these days to chance upon a somewhat naughty child in many homes. You may even believe that children are supposed to be naughty.

But ADHD Children are special in their own ways.

ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It is actually a name given to a group of behavioral complexities found in growing children and more and more adults. ADHD afflicts not more than 10 percent of the boys and not more than 4 percent of the girls. This means that 1 out of every 35 children in a schoolroom could have some or more ADHD like behaviors.

The common belief is an ADHD child typically is restless by nature. It appears that the child will be inattentive not only in school, but also at home. Despite his/her physical presence, the child would be mentally somewhere else even while involved in other playful activities.

But you may want to check on this for yourself as some children can be advanced learners even while displaying such behaviors.

This behavioral trait also has very serious implications on the other aspects of their life. Since they are more active and/or impulsive than their other playmates, they slowly develop strained relationships with their peers. The restlessness gets so severe that they even end up having problems with teachers and learning in school.

However, the severity of these symptoms must remain for at least a continuous period of 6 months. Then a child can be diagnosed with some from of ADHD.

The typical symptoms of an ADHD child who is attentive are; difficulty in following instructions, total inattention in school, home, play or any other activity, loosing things required for school activities, appears not to listen even when spoken to directly, doesn’t pays attention to close details, almost always remains disorganized, forgets things very quickly and is easily distracted from the work in hand.

Similarly, the symptoms of an ADHD child who is hyperactive/impulsive are; remaining fidgety with the fingers or the digits of the foot, running or climbing inappropriately, inability to play quietly, habitually blurting out the answers in school more often out of turn, interrupting people, inability to sit for long in his seat when he is required to, indulging in excessive talking and always being on the go.

In a more severe form of ADHD, the child could suffer from all the above mentioned symptoms. This type is known as the ADHD Combined Type. Children suffering from this are more visible in their maladjustments and get medical attention more quickly than those suffering from the previous two types.

The parents should always remember in these cases that many physicians believe ADHD is a genetic disorder. And the doctors are often heard to say; “The disease manifests itself early on in life due to lack of certain chemical formations in the brain” or something like that.

Some researchers also believe ADHD to be hereditary. Smoking, diet and/or substance abuse during pregnancy could also result in ADHD symptoms. Perhaps even stress or the ‘energy’ of an environment may be a factor.

If you take the attitude that ADHD Children should immediately be taken to the doctor then you may just be feeding a fixed outcome. Think for a moment, what’s best for your child and then you and your family. Seek understanding and information if you can. Read alternative opinions and ask loads of questions. If ADHD goes unheeded during childhood or ignored, it could cause problems for life.

Action in this case is good but action with out just reacting and adding some understanding and calm at the same time can go a long ways to getting to balance. Some folks even have the belief that ADHD children are much advanced to human kind and may be able to solve some of the ‘impossible’ problems of this planet.

Are Medications Effective for Alzheimer’s Disease?

Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) affects 4 million people in this country alone, and is associated with memory loss, confusion, special orientation problems, mood swings, delusions, and language difficulties, among other symptoms. Alzheimer’s is most common in older patients, and lasts on average 10 years (largely related to the effect Alzheimer’s has on limiting survival). Before the age of 65 1 in 1000 people will develop Alzheimer’s. After 65, it affects 1 in 50, and after age 80 the risk is 1 on 5. Nursing home care is necessary at some point, often at the 6-year mark. Risk factors for AD are family history, age, and Down’s syndrome.

The condition is caused by the development of plaques in the brain that are filled with something called amyloid. These plaques are concentrated in parts of the brain involved in learning and memory, including the hippocampus, frontal lobe, cingulate, temporal and parietal cortex. On a chemical level, there is damage to the acetylcholine system, which plays a role in memory, i.e., a loss of receptors for this chemical in the hippocampus and other areas.

While AD is present in 60% of patients with dementia, it must be differentiated from Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), which may or may not progress to Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer’s must also be differentiated from fronto-temporal dementia, vascular dementia (from small strokes, seen in 15% of patients), and depression, which are not necessarily associated long-term with the development of Alzheimer’s. Unlike Alzheimer’s, dementia if often caused by deficiencies of the vitamins B12 and folate, which can happen in the elderly and can be treated with vitamin supplementation. However diagnosing Alzheimer’s in the early stages of the illness is often difficult.

One of the factors weighing most heavily on families dealing with a loved one who suffers from Alzheimer’s is its cost: $16,000 per year for the care of affected patients, including the costs of nursing homes, doctors, and medications . Once a patient with Alzheimer’s loses the ability to care for him or her self, the disorder quickly progresses to a total loss of function and eventual death. Alzheimer’s takes a particularly heavy toll on families of affected patients; studies show that 80% of caregivers are under heavy stress, and 50% suffer from depression. Given these grim statistics, it is no wonder that families, patients, and their doctors are desperate for treatments for this disorder.

In spite of the fact that there is no cure for Alzheimer’s and if the diagnosis is accurate, there is no hope for symptoms to reverse, patients and their families spend billions of dollars on medications each year in an attempt to do what they can to combat the inevitable onslaught of decline. At best the meds available can push memory up a few points on the scale, and perhaps buy a year of time, but not change the rate of decline or its inevitable conclusion because for some, one more year with a loved one can be worth it, however. And I can understand that completely. One year might make all the difference when it comes to a relationship with a parent or spouse. However, I also want you to understand what study results really show for Alzheimer’s drugs, so that you understand the limits of what these drugs can really accomplish and for how long.

All of the studies consistently show about a 5-point change on the Alzheimer’s Disease Assessment Scale-Cognitive Subsection (ADAS-Cog), a measure of Alzheimer’s related cognitive impairment, which translates into about a 7% increase in cognition. Let’s take a look at what this really means. Here’s an example: if I asked you to buy 10 items at the grocery store, you would remember seven with the drug, and six without it. The increase is just a tweak of the chemical system, and doesn’t do anything to stop the underlying disease. To paraphrase a colleague’s observation, I don’t think it is worth $250 per month to name 11 animals in a minute versus 10 animals.”

Learn more about treatments for Alzheimer’s Disease and alternatives to medications and hidden risks of prescription medications in ‘Before You Take That Pill: Why the Drug Industry May be Bad for Your Health: Risks and Side Effects You Won’t Find on the Label of Commonly Prescribed Drugs, Vitamins and Supplements,’ by researcher and physician J. How to Overcome Panic Attacks - Behavior Management and Self Control

Panic is a sensation of total despair and weakness that provokes several alterations in the body.

Dictionary.com defines it as:

1. A sudden overwhelming fear, with or without cause, that produces hysterical or irrational behavior, and that often spreads quickly through a group of persons or animals.

2. An instance, outbreak, or period of such fear.

This is the definition of its characteristics. The definition of what panic really means, and why many people experience panic attacks, is more complex.

The truth is that the human being possesses a wild and violent primitive conscience, besides his known human conscience. This violent anti-conscience is constantly trying to destroy the human side through craziness because it is absurd and cruel. It is a wild animal that has no sensitivity.

Therefore the anti-conscience constantly tries to frighten the human side of the conscience in order to dominate it. First it induces the person to make many mistakes by misinterpreting many points of the objective reality. Later it provokes panic, when the person understands that something is wrong with them, even though they cannot understand exactly what it is.

The mistakes and misconceptions provoke problematic situations, fears and despair. This is when the anti-conscience has the chance to cause even more damage to the human conscience, after conquering a portion of the field of the conscious realm.

Suddenly the person starts sweating, feeling dizzy and losing the floor under their feet. This weakness increases their initial fear. They feel so hopeless that they believe they are in a situation that has no salvation.

This is the result of the invasion of the anti-conscience into the human side of the conscience. This invasion happens many times, but depending on the problems they cause and on the psychological type of each person, it may provoke different mental disturbances that develop into graver diseases, if the person doesn’t fight against this domination.

In order to completely eliminate panic attacks the person must start taking note of their dreams and translate their hidden messages through the scientific method of dream interpretation. The unconscious mind that produces the dreams is wise and saintly, and tries to save the human side of our conscience from the craziness that the wild side imposes on us.

If you experience panic attacks, don’t delay in writing down your dreams every day and relating them back to what is happening in your life. One dream explains another and is always related to your life, your mental health and happiness.

In order to fight against the panic you may have while interpreting your dreams, you must be strong and believe that you are not going to faint or die, and that nothing bad will happen to you. Simply bear the horrible sensations with courage, waiting for their end. They won’t last too long. Each time you resist and simply bear them, waiting for their end without losing hope, they lose power.

Having the tools of resistance in one hand and dream analysis in the other, will help you forever eliminate panic attacks, besides helping you develop your intelligence to the fullest and acquire mental health, balance, wisdom and happiness for life. Everything depends on the elimination of the dangerous wild and violent side of your conscience.

You are going to eliminate the enemy, but without killing it, since it is a part of you. This is your wild self, which has to be tamed and acquire basic human characteristics like compassion and forgiveness, so that you may live peacefully, and enjoy real and long-lasting happiness.

This way your behavior will not be controlled by the absurd anti-conscience and you’ll have self control, and always feel strong and self-confident.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive compulsive disorder in medical terms is referred as psychiatric anxiety disorder, which is related to the characteristics of a person’s obsessive, intrusive thoughts, distressing and other related compulsions. Obsessive compulsion disorder is, let’s rather say an illness which makes a person do unwanted things against will. These may include unwanted thoughts or behaviors, which are repeated again and again. For example for a person brushing teeth after every meal is a habit for you, this is an obsession. You may not agree but we come across a lot of obsessions in our daily life. Another example is checking if all the lights in the house are off or not before leaving the house. Even if you have checked it once you want to do it again. Later while just sitting in the car you might again go check it. These kinds of thoughts come again and again.

Now what do we mean by obsessions? Obsessions are images, ideas or signals send to the brain every now and then. A person having OCD may find these thoughts disturbing them but they cannot control them from coming to their mind.
